Entering their 10th season, Les Muses Chorale (formerly Simply Sweetly) is a women’s choral ensemble at McGill University in Montreal. Composed of 35 women we boast a repertoire composed primarily of choral music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, music that speaks directly to our audiences.
Les Muses began in 2001, when a group of talented young women created a McGill club to express their passion for fun yet challenging choral music. Since it’s creation this passion has remained and Les Muses has grown into a vibrant ensemble dedicated to choral excellence.
Les Muses Chorale has performed in numerous venues in and around Montreal, such as the Palais des Congres, Oscar Peterson Hall, Redpath Hall, Tudor Hall, and Christ Church Cathedral. Our accomplishments include hosting the first annual Montreal Women’s Choral Festival, held in 2006 in remembrance of the Hungarian Revolution; acting as McGill’s annual representative in the Inter-Varsity Choral Festival; as well as recording music for the National Film Board’s short film Madam Tutli Putli, which went on to win the Toronto Worldwide Short Film-Festival and two Cannes awards.
