Entering our 10th season, Les Muses Chorale (formerly Simply Sweetly) is a women’s choral ensemble at McGill University in Montreal. Composed of 35 women we boast a repertoire composed primarily of choral music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, music that speaks directly to our audiences.
Les Muses began in 2001, when a group of talented young women created a McGill club to express their passion for fun yet challenging choral music. Since it’s creation this passion has remained and Les Muses has grown into a vibrant ensemble dedicated to choral excellence.
Les Muses Chorale has performed in numerous venues in and around Montreal, such as; the Palais des Congres; Oscar Peterson Hall; Redpath Hall; Tudor Hall; and, Christ Church Cathedral. Our accomplishments include; hosting the first annual Montreal Women’s Choral Festival held in 2006 in remembrance of the Hungarian Revolution; acting as McGill’s annual representative in the Inter-Varsity Choral Festival; as well as, recording music for the National Film Board’s short film Madam Tutli Putli, which went on to win the Toronto Worldwide Short Film-Festival and two Cannes awards.
